experiment with inks

6" x 9"
ink and watercolor

I wanted to try a Tim Holtz black distress marker for this drawing/painting. My idea was to draw the poppies and then wet the marks with water so they would run a bit and then paint with inktense ink sticks. His distress markers and ink pads are made to react with water. A property one may or may not like. For this, I liked!

I am pleased with the results. more experiments to come.  I also used some watercolor on the dark brown area to make it darker. I mixed Payne's gray with transparent orange to get a beautiful brown. I made the edges soft.

tulip, up close and personal, oil painting

I found out this morning that I did not have grandma duty today, so I jumped out of bed, made coffee and got to painting straight away. This is form a photo I took several years ago of a tulip. I loved it as a photo and I love it more as a painting.
