Multipunciano, Italy

graphite on paper

While walking around this amazing hill town, I came across a hotel. What intrigued me was the ivy plant growing on the wall. It was a beautiful vignette of a beautiful town. I was standing here waiting for our bus to our hotel.  I love sketching places I visit, either while there or later on at home. I take lots of photos, so I have plenty of reference photos.

Sketch from Orvieto, Italy

5.5 x 8
ink and watercolor in sketchbook

Stroll down the street. On the left is a ceramic store. On the wall are ceramics for sale. The clock tower is in front of you. There is a small road to explore that leads off the left. Have fun! It was magical to walk around this small town. It is ancient. We arrived early and beat the crowds. Behind me on my right is the stunning cathedral. I am standing in the large square of the town.

Painting in Italy

Home from Italy! I had a fantastic time in Tuscany and Umbria. What a beautiful country! Everywhere is a painting waiting to be painted. I stayed in a villa in the country side. We did collage art and took day trips to beautiful places.

This small painting is from my small watercolor art journal. I sat outside of the "agriturismo" resort villa we stayed in and painted this. It's a beautiful valley with a farm. This is looking into Tuscany. This is also the view I had from my room.
