Rocks and shells

I painted another rock watercolor. I added a shell and a piece of a shell this time. The shadow on the top rock is ALL WRONG! I was experimenting and it went bad...ah well...lessons to learn. I want to be more experimental in my painting..."what if I..." sort of painting. But I have to be willing to live with it. I was wondering what it would look like if I made a large shadow, and it doesn't work. I enjoy painting in a series. I believe I learn more when I do. And I have so much to learn about watercolors!

But I do like the shell. That was fun to paint and try to make it dimensional.

Painting Rocks and Sand

I recently purchased a wonderful DVD by Birgit O'Connor about painting rocks and sand. Here is my first attempt at rock and sand painting. I really enjoyed the process, relaxed and fun. No worries, only experimental. I think I am getting older and wiser; I just don't stress out as much over my art anymore. Maybe it's a level of acceptance and practice? Anyway- here are my rocks. I'll paint them again and again. And I'll add pastel when I get there...
